Micah is still in the ICU, and although he is off the ventilator, he is still having some difficulty breathing. He seems to have little panic attacks where he can't breathe and gets pretty worked up. The nurses/therapists are having to give him breathing treatments quite often to help open up the airway. The doctors all say that he just still has swelling in his airway from the fluids they've been giving him to keep from getting clots in his new kidney. The doctors say that it is hard to balance and will take him longer to recover, since he is so little and young, and since Katie's kidney is "large and plump" (those are the doctor's exact words!!) They said that it will probably get worse before it gets better, but my mom reports that last night was in fact a better night; my mom told me that he said "bye-bye" to the x-ray tech this morning!! What a cutie!! The great thing is that the kidney is still working perfectly!! He's such a strong, brave little boy and we all really appreciate your continued prayers!
