Micah is doing much better!

Micah is still in the ICU at the Children's Hospital in Washington D.C., but he is definitely improving!! He slept all night last night and didn’t need any pain medicine or breathing treatments to help open up his airway. My family is very thankful because it was obviously scary and frustrating to watch him struggle to breathe! He has been acting more and more like the Micah we know and love! He watches Wheel of Fortune and claps and claps (it's his favorite show!), he's been giving high fives to the nurses, and he calls Sophie quite frequently on his cell phone!! Because of this improvement, they are hoping to move him out of the ICU tomorrow into a regular room. He will probably stay in the hospital until sometime middle of next week.

The doctors are now having the difficult task of making sure Micah gets enough fluids to keep his kidney well hydrated while avoiding more breathing problems from too much fluid in his little body. So, Micah still needs prayers that his kidney would continue to work and that his airway would remain open so he can breathe easily. My family really appreciates everyone’s concern, and we are confident that God will continue to provide healing for Micah!!

Hey Liz,
He's getting TPN, IV fluids, and tube feedings thru his NGT. They are letting him have clear liquids. Soon they will stop the TPN/IV flds and do just tube feedings. And at home he'll get feedings at night for a couple of months. P.S. Rascal is praying and wishes he had a bucket to sleep in like Schnooze!
