Grammy and Pop!

Grammy and Pop drove out for a visit last weekend. We had a great time!

Elsie's first time in a highchair at a restaurant! She's growing up so fast!

This is a Zoe (from Sesame Street) mural that Mike drew on the wall in Sophie's room a while ago. It turned out really cute!

On a sad note, we had to put our beagle, Dixie to sleep on Monday. She all of a sudden developed cataracts and couldn't hardly see, and we found that she had diabetes. It was a hard decision, but we decided that it was best to put her down. So sad!! Here are a couple of pictures of her with the girls.

The weather has been really nice this week, so we went once again to the zoo on a morning that Mike had off from work. (I know...we are addicted to the zoo!)

Look how close these bears were! We have never seen them close up like this. They were huge!

Animal overload!!

We have been taking advantage of the wonderful weather by getting outside and seeing lots of animals!!!!! On Friday, the girls and I went to the zoo (it was the first time that I had taken them by myself). We had a great time! Elsie seemed pretty bored, but Sophie had fun running around and seeing all of the animals. Her favorite were the scuba divers cleaning the big fish tank. I asked her if she wanted to go scuba diving some day and she said "no." Pop, Grandpa and Grandma...you'll have to keep working on her!!

Grandma, this picture is for you! We know how much you love snakes!!

Then, on Saturday, we drove about an hour away to the Arbuckle Wilderness Park. It is a drive-thru safari with buffalo, zebra, ostriches, camels, deer, wolves, and a whole bunch of other animals. They gave us animal food (Sophie called it "cookies") to throw out of your window so that the animals will come right up to your car. It was so much fun!!!!! (And just a note: We took Sophie out of her carseat while we were stopped next to the animals so that she could see better. She went back to her carseat when we were moving. I just don't want anyone to report us to the authorities!)

Some of Sophie's favorite books are "Llama llama mad at mama" and "llama llama red pajama," so she was excited to feed the llamas. I think I was actually a little more excited because I thought this llama was just adorable and I wanted to take him/her home with us!

This emu was giving us the stink eye. It was kind of freaky.

I thought this sign was hilarious! They really try to keep people from getting out of their car during the drive-thru part. This sign was outside of the wolf pen.

The donkeys were hilarious!! They had the cutest lips! Their teeth were really dirty, so I told Sophie she needs to brush everyday so that she doesn't get donkey teeth.

Mom, here's another picture for you! This was the freakest part because the ostriches would stick their heads into the car looking for food. Sophie was slightly traumatized, which is understandable since her parents were screaming and trying frantically to shut the windows, but she cheered up when we came to the ducks and baby deer.

Today, we went back to the zoo with some friends.

Kai, one of Sophie's friends, loves holding babies! Elsie is so laid back that she didn't mind (with a little adult supervision, of course!)

Pictures from the aftermath of our ice storm

We went from an ice storm to bike-riding weather! Sophie and Daddy hadn't ridden their bike in a while...Sophie still loves it!

Last Saturday, Mike, Sophie, and a couple other daddies and their kids went to the zoo.

Someone is ready for a nap!

It seems like we put Elsie in the high chair a lot because most of the pictures of her in this post are while she's in the high chair. I promise, we do put her other places too!

I will leave you with this...a picture of Mike bundled up to run during the freezing weather we had a couple of weeks ago. I hope you don't have nightmares!
