Happy 2nd birthday, Sophie

We had a fun party on Saturday for Sophie and her friend Hannah, whose birthday is 5 days after Sophie's. The party was a Strawberry Shortcake theme (very pink and girly!), and I think the girls had a fun time with all of their friends!

"Yeah for Sophie!"

An adorable frame from Jim and Lynn (Lynn made it!)

Opening presents at Grandma and Grandpa's while out in Colorado

Her present from us (along with her birthday money from Great-Grandma Ellie and Great-Grandma Ruth and Great-Grandpa Mel): a little Big Wheel bike!

Sophie is still learning how to pedal! We've started her out going down the driveway, but as you can see, the pedals get going too fast for her little legs to keep up!

An afternoon of soccer...I guess it helps to lift your arms up while you kick!

Kreativ Blogger Award

My friend, Lynn, awarded me the Kreativ Blogger Award on her blog (http://www.enjoyingevanandemmaeveryday.blogspot.com/). So, I have to write 6 random things that make me happy and then tag someone else to do the same. Here goes!

Six random things that make me happy:

1. Picking Sophie and Elsie up from the nursery at church...Sophie is so excited to see us, and I realize how much I have missed our girls, even though we were only gone for a couple of hours!

2. Opening a new container of peanut butter. I always pretend (in my head, not out loud) that I'm in that old p.b. commercial where the mom opens the peanut butter and then licks a big fingerfull of it! Mmmmmmm!

3. Listening to Sophie talk or read her books over the baby monitor when she wakes up in the morning. Sometimes she says the cutest things. Now, if she starts talking before 7 am, it suddenly isn't as cute!

4. Going on a date with Mike. This doesn't happen nearly as often now!

5. Puzzles!!! Mike and I used to do puzzles all the time before we had kids (can you imagine a 2 year old getting her hands on a 1000 piece puzzle?! Disaster!) So all of you people out there without children should do as many puzzles as you can. I'm talking to you, Liz and Cameron!

6. Driving up to our parents' houses in Colorado and Georgia after a long road trip. We miss you all and can't wait for the holidays!
There are a lot of great blogs out there, but I am awarding the Kreativ Blogger Award to Kelly!! She has a really neat blog and takes some really great pictures!

Memories....

Here are those pictures from our wedding that I promised in my last post. (Look at the next post too for some new pictures.)

Mike and Chris
I thought I'd add a couple more, just for fun:

This picture always makes me laugh because I can't believe our photographer got the parents to kiss! How cute!

A quick trip

A couple of weekends ago, the whole family took a very, very quick trip out to Colorado because Mike had an interview with a civilan flying company in Pueblo. The trip went way too quickly...we were only in Loveland for 2 days! We got to see some family but unfortunately we couldn't see everyone because we just didn't have enough time, so hopefully we can take another trip out soon to see the rest of you, or at least when my sister has her baby (yeah for Katie, Reed and Micah!)

Sophie had quite a set-up. She had a DVD player that she could watch Sesame Street movies on, so she did great on the trip. You can see Dixie chilling out in the sun in the back seat. Elsie did great on the drive out, but she didn't have very much fun on the way back. Now I think she's traumatized because she cries whenever I put her in her carseat!

Grandma and Sophie watching Sesame Street

Grandma is a brave, brave woman. She only made it about 10 minutes before having to come back to the house!

I was trying to teach Sophie how to play "Annie's Song" by John Denver. That's the only song I know how to play (but I can play a mean "Annie's Song," that's for sure!)

Grandpa and Sophie made up a new version of pool. Grandpa would break up the balls, and then Sophie would grab the ones she could reach and put them in a pocket for him.

Auntie Carol and Uncle Bryan stopped by...

Sophie's favorite uncle, Abel (sorry Reed, Chris and Craig!)

We had an early birthday party for Sophie (she turned 2 yesterday! My little baby is growing up!)

Great-grandpa Mel

Great-grandma Ruth

On our way to Pueblo we stopped in Castle Rock to have dinner with our friends from college, Chris and Kelly. Mike and Chris were roommates in college and best-men in each other's weddings. It was so fun to see them and to see their house and their baby room (can't wait to meet you, Briar!) It was just like old times! (Kelly, I tried to download an old picture of Mike and Chris from our wedding like you did on your blog, but it didn't work for some reason! I'm going to try again because it is so fun to look back at those pictures!)

On a side note: Sophie's birthday was yesterday but we aren't having her b-day party until Saturday, so I will definitely post pictures of the party girl when I have them!

Looks like Daddy forgot to remove an item of clothing before he put Sophie in the tub. (Just to make it perfectly clear, it was Daddy who forgot, not Mommy!)

Happy Halloween!!

Happy Halloween! Sophie and Mike had fun carving pumpkins a few days ago. Now Sophie loves to point out all the pumpkins she sees!

These are from Sophie's Halloween party at her school. Sophie is sitting next to her friend, Sarah. Sophie was Abby Cadabby from Sesame Street (she's the fairy godmother's daughter, for those of you who aren't avid Sesame Street watchers!)

These next pictures are from our Halloween party! Elsie was a cute little lady bug (which is fitting, since our nickname for her is "Elsie bug!")

I don't know who invited these rednecks to the party! Check out the muscles on that one on the right!

Sophie, Emma, Hannah and Sarah

We took the girls trick-or-treating and they had a great time! They figured it out right away, although at the first house, Sophie's friend Sarah ran into the house and her mom had to go chase her down. It was pretty funny!

These are a couple of pictures from a few days ago. The weather has been really nice here, so Sophie and Mike played some soccer and baseball outside in the backyard.
